Some time in the month of July, I got the opportunity to become one of the three judges to select the Vlisco Fashion Fund 2022 winner. It was an exciting feeling as I was honoured to be considered for this task. In 2016, I was one of the Judges for the Ghana Fashion Awards, so having this opportunity once again was really a great achievement. Also, having worked in the fashion industry for over 10 years, I believe I have gained some insights working with both emerging and established designers and also in terms of finding the right talents needed for next generation of designers.

We had an initial interview with 15 shortlisted designers after which they were shortlisted to top 3. There was another   interview session with the top 3 who were given fabrics and tasked to design 5 looks each from the fabrics given. After a thorough assessment of their final works, we made a decision on the winner and that was announced at the glamorous fashion event at Pearly Gates Garden in East Legon.

I had the opportunity to be on the panel with Eugenia Tachie-Menson, 2014 Vlisco brand ambassador and founder of Young Educators Foundation, organizers of the Scripps Spelling Bee and Sumaiya Dzietror, co-owner and Creative Director of the renowned Ghanaian fashion house Pistis Ghana.

Ghanaian fashion label Boye Doe designed and made all my 3 Vlisco Outfits.

Congratulations to Deladem Midekor for winning this prestigious and enviable investment fund of 5000 euros for her fashion business (Maison Midekor) and an all-expense paid trip to the Netherlands for a 2-week Masters Couture Training. The second and third winners, Austin Nortey and Rukaya Halidu, also receive 3,000 euros and 2,000 euros, respectively.
